I just love the fact that Mary Katrantzou has inspired some huge and influential designers like Versace this season, with here awe-inspiring print style fashion. Woah go Mary Katrantzou.

I recently went to Paris for 5days, which was both good and bad, fun and wearisome, exciting and prosaic, delectable and unexpected. It was not what I pictured to be honest: I'll just say I am glad to be British, no offence intended but, the health and safety (or rather lack of it) is quite appalling and the food, geez was rather unsatisfying, apart from the croissants, pain au chocolat and dark chocolate, oh and the coffee too. But, some of the sights were pretty spectacular and there were some really lovely shops to explore, which they allowed me to take some cheeky photos. So that slightly made up for the disappointing moments of this trip. I have uploaded a few of my favorite photos I took during this mini break here on blogger, so I hope you enjoy them. I am so fascinated with the American photographer Billy Kidd's portraits, especially his black and white pieces. I both love and hate his work; it is so rare to come across some really diverse and visually engaging photographic portraits that are in simple terms, so good. Some of his portraits have the effect of making the viewer feel uncomfortable and his subject's prone to scrutiny by the public, as Kidd somehow captures them in some may call a 'bad photo' or pose, not the generalize form of pretty that are shown through most editorials in fashion magazines. His models pose almost statuesque in obscure sometimes unflattering positions or pulling obscene facial expression that usually you’d want to be deleted straight away after been photographed. However this diverse and fascinating photography works, portraying the not so obvious beauty, the beauty that is away from glamour and adornment that is filled in contemporary fashion magazines, but a beauty which demands a kind of originality that makes you pause and admire. Beauty is not about being perfect; if you have noticed it is the strange and peculiar quality that makes beauties what they are, just look at Kate Moss. This is what Billy Kidd’s photography shows to me. Also speaking of Kate Moss, I would love to of seen some photographs of her shot by Billy Kidd; this would have been an amazing collaboration, especially if they were of Kate Moss in her hay day.

So in an attempt to update my blogger a bit more here are a few illustrations and collage that were scrambling around in my journals which I thought I'd share with the inter-web blogging society. The top illustration is a watercolour and pencil portrait of Givenchy mens wear summer autumn 2011. The college below depicts a freaky portrayal of the british flag with images of eyes, and the statement 'young London'. I want to say something smart about the collage but I really haven't got much to say about it, so you can make up your own idea about that picture, I guess. Then we have the adorable Taylor Swift pencil portrait with lyrics from her popular song Love story. And there we have it, that is all.

Paris Haute Couture: Givenchy Autumn/Winter 2011

I am utterly in love with Givency Haute couture Autumn winter 2011 collection. The sheer angelic and mystical essence of this collection tells the story of what a grown up fairy tale would be like. Haute couture is Fantasy; however this fantasy has really been bought to life. Riccardo Tisci is obviously very talented and has bought to life his unique vision ‘purity, lightness, fragility’ in these wonderfully crafted dresses which accentuate the female form so elegantly. The gowns look like they float almost like ghosts or something otherworldly, giving the models an innocent angelic appearance at first glance. When your eyes are bought to attention of the exquisite hand crafted embroidery, this simply takes your breath away at the straight out amount of thought and construction that has gone into making something so conspicuously beautiful. This collection simply blew my mind when I first came across it and as I mentioned before I am completely in love with these dresses; they are so incredibly inspiring.

A post dedicated to pretty much one of my favorite bands;Brand new, a smart-ass pop punk/emo American band. There music is fierce combining an aching rock aesthetic. There lyrics pretty much sum up my life, well to an extent. So my fascination with this band crept over into my illustrations and photography and this is what this blog post sums up, my love of there thought provoking lyrics and melodic sound. I love this girl’s sense of style at the moment, Swedish indie singer Lykki Li (her stage name). I also love how this girl has been captured in these photographs; there is a sense of emotion caught so delicately in each image. And to be honest I’m rather jealous of her blonde hair too...

With her English rose looks and tiny frame, complimented with her English accent she is a classic in the making. keira has featured in some of the biggest block busters of the century, she has carved her mark in the film industry that will inspire many young actors for a very long time.

The sun may not be shining much this British summer as yet, but this Haute Couture show By John Galliano for Christian Dior fall 2010 certainly does. Haute couture never seizes to amaze me, with unique and impressive pieces. Especially this one which was shown in Paris during fashion week on 30 June 2010. With wild flowers, explosive bold colours, unique shapes, dramatic high hair, colourful and visually striking make up, models in fulls skirts, cinched waists and plastic covered heads are just a few things that make this whimsical collection by Dior tremendously brilliant. And I expect fashion lovers will be lusting after them. Don't worry though because this trend will soon filter down to the high streets, with inspired pieces of pansy prints, bold colours high hair and tulle very soon. Australian beauty Miranda Kerr is so incredibly lucky and has the world at her feet. With a handsome boyfriend (sorry) fiance on her arm soon to be wed, she is glowing and is a picture of health. Not only that Kerr is one of the most successful supermodels in the world at present, working for the likes of Victoria secrets and her latest break Prada. But also she is down to earth and seems super friendly, she also has such pretty fashion taste too. I love her style-so classy but has this motor bike girl egde. Miranda Kerr is such an inspiration to me and many other young women world wide, because she's not stupid unlike some models. Miranda studied nutrition and phycology when she left school, and understands that in order to look good and healthy, eating a healthy and balance diet and exercise is more imporatant and healthier than staving yourself to lose weight.
One of her signature traits is her ray bans (oh and dimples) and I don't think anyone pulls of these sunglasses better than Miranda. So I threw together a little collage of Miranda (and Orlando) wearing some ray bans to prove this fact! Hope you like it!

Fall ready to wear 2010 Louis VUITTON

This autumn Louis Vuitton celebrates the return of real women to the catwalk. With a comeback of curvy silhouettes with A-line dresses, corseted tops, circle and mid-lenght full skirts. Marc Jacobs framed the whole look with fresh faced, feminine models donning clean makeup, hair scraped back in high bouncy pony tails and wearing squared-toed, blocked heels pumps trimmed with flat bows. This look might seem a bit mumsy, but I honesty love the whole collection. Just look at Betty Draper from Mad Men- absolutely stunning.

I just had to post some of these breath taking shots by the notorious fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld, most notably as head designer and creative director for fashion house Chanel. They are so beautifully photographed. They came about when Lagerfeld was asks to photograph the Milliner's Lookbook for Fall Autumn Winter 2009 by Chanel's accessories designer Laetitia Crahay, who also doubles as art director for Maison Michel, whom the photography was for. The collaboration was just perfectly suited as the results depict a stunning portfolio of Chanel's favourites; Lara Stone, Sasha Pivovarova, Angela Lindvall, Karl Lagerfelds muse Lady Amanda Harlech, and many more models all donning a stunning collection of headgear from Maison Michel.

I really like how these photographs I took, of various fashion stores around Manchester turned out. The lomo style distortion adds such a compelling quality to the images, which also adds a more arty, photography effect, thus making the image more visually striking.

Here are a few illustrations that I REALLY like by the oh so quirky illustrator Danny Roberts. He has such an interesting and unique style. I love his use of colour within the compositions, and the contrasts of the light and tone. There is something so mysterious too about some of the models in his work, like they have these little secrets they want the viewer to guess, and Danny Roberts bring this tiny subject out in his designs. It adds more curiosity. I guess there is a lot of emotion in his work then, even though perhaps it is quite subtle sometimes.

I had written a lot more about this illustrators work, but the internet cut off when I was just about to publish the post, and I had forgotten what I had written. I blame my fish memory. So annoying. Damn internet cutting off on me. So this hoo ha of words will have to do. Hope you enjoyed my rant. oh and the post.

aaaahh summers here at last. I had to put some suncream on my cat's ears today, Don't judge! It's not his fault he's ginger and burns easily. But he just loves the sun, laying on the patio for hours roasting in the garden, catching a tan hmmm if that's possible. Owell enough of that, these are some images I find particularly inspiring at the moment, depicting my love of soft pastel colours and captivating landscapes, plus beautiful flower photography with a vintage, style effect. Simply breathtaking.

My new Kate Moss blouse arrived today. I just adored it when I ripped open the parcel in anticipation. Therefore I decided to take some self portrait photographs of me rocking this Kate Moss for Topshop blouse. Lately I have really been liking a lot of black and white portraiture, mainly of Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe along with a few other classic icons. So I thought to incorporate that classic style of photography into the theme of my photo shoot. These were the outcomes, I hope you like them.

I love the flow of Cecilia Carlstedt's fashion illustrations, she has such a compelling touch within her style. The imagery is so diverse depicting a mixture of bold, block colours and linear lines without looking cluttered, yet has a visually striking element of intricate detail. I.literally.fell.in.love. with this editorial for Vogue Nippon June 2010 straight away. Featuring the beautiful Swedish model Frida gustavsson and Photography by Andreas Sjodin. It is so dream-like and catchy, I was immediately pulled into a trance with the whole concept of this shoot. The colour theme is so in season and suits my love of pastel colours, I'm so fond of at the moment. Morning flowers (the title) sums up this adorable editorial to a tee, so spellbinding. I think I might need to purchase a little straw hat now, and attach some cute, ditsy flowers (hopefully not get stung by a bee, after some honey though) for the summer months.

Please watch this video here which show just how horribly KFC's suppliers treats chickens- birds are forced into tanks of scolding hot water while completely conscious and able to feel pain, and in west Virginia, slaughterhouse workers kill birds by slamming them against the wall and stomping on them!

Please help Peta to boycott KFC until the company demands to make simple improvements in the way animals are killed for its restaurants and treated.

There is something different about his work, it has emotion. Feeling's that are captured in a instant out of time, altering life by holding it still. When I look at Slimane's photographs of models, actors I've seen photographed so many times before I see them in a new way. I. am. totally. in love with Bruno Dayan's work. I could easily post his entire portfolio, its so mystical and magical. The lighting and colouration is fantastic and each photograph tells a story, pulling you into the scene. It's like poetry but in a photograph form. I could totally jabber on about Dayan's work all day, whom has to be one of the most notorious fashion photographers out there, on the fashion scene at present. He creates his own reality in these photographs. This is what I love about art and photography. His photography makes me feel so overwhelmed with enthusiasm.

This is a little project I've been working on lately about Alice in wonderland, which is the big hit feature film of 2010 so far. So I decided to turn the tables on this theme and produce an Alice in Nativeland series, which has been really fun to do. This is a photograph of one of the pieces I produce using watercolour and pencil mediums. The model in the image is Gemma Ward because she is so full of sunshine and wonder, she just suited the part of my Alice in Nativeland.

Falmouth, Cornwall. Winter 2010

This photograph was taken after my interview at Falmouth University College. My sister

Charlotte and I went for a lovely walk around Falmouth town, docks and beaches. The

weather was so wonderfully warm, it felt like spring has already begun in Cornwall. So we

decided to take some photos of us jumping and fooling around on the beach. The results me falling flat into the sand. You can view more photos of my vistit to Falmouth Cornwall here

These are a series of photograph's I took on a visit to London recently. The main focus of this Series was Topshop on London's busy Oxford street. The Spring themed window displays' for 2010 were so amazing and spruced up they were worth taking some photographs of. I also got a few sneaky shots of the inside of the store, before I was told "your not allowed to take photos in here miss" which you can see more of here
